Backend Developer

Do you want to create technology for the next generation of industry and society? Univrses is accelerating the development of the 3DAI™ City platform and we are now looking for a Backend Developer who is passionate about big data to join the team in Stockholm.

Univrses is a 3D Computer Vision and Machine Learning company based in Stockholm, creating high-end technologies for autonomous systems. We work in several different areas, but our main focus is on self-driving vehicles, mobile robotics and smart city development. Our team consists of hard-working and friendly people from all over the world.

Your role

In your new Backend role, you will take part in building the 3DAI™ City platform. It is a scalable answer to the growing demand for data about the urban environment and part of our efforts in smart city development (more information here). You will take part in designing, building and scaling the platform. 3DAI™ City is still a young product and there is a lot for you to do depending on your interests and previous experience.

• You will be responsible for growing our platform for storing, processing and visualizing data.
• You will use your experience to design efficient solutions for our backend system.
• You will engage with our Machine Learning scientists to shape our tools to handle large scale data.
• You will collaborate closely with product owners, backend and frontend developers and Computer Vision scientists to test new ideas and help develop our way of working.
• You will create cutting-edge technologies for applications that will help change the way we live our lives.
• You will have the opportunity to grow professionally and transform the world into a better place at the same time.

Who you are

• You like working in and being part of a team
• You are passionate about writing high-quality code.
• You have at least 3+ years experience of programming and backend development using Java or some other high-level programming language
• You have experience working with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL
• You keep up-to-date with best practices and new technologies
• You focus on the end result and always desire to find the most pragmatic solution
• You have an aspiration to see your ideas move into production
• You enjoy working in an environment where you experiment and iterate quickly

Bonus points

You have experience working with any of these systems or technologies:

• Java Spring
• JDBC
• AWS-based solutions
• GNU/Linux systems
• REST APIs
• Geo spatial databases such as PostGIS
• Serverless computing (e.g. AWS Lamdbas)
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Distributed, high-volume services and know how to deploy and keep them running in production
• Big data processing technologies
