Full Stack Engineer (Mobile Application)

Candela’s ultimate purpose is to speed up the transition to fossil fuel-free lakes and oceans. We strive to re-think efficiency in marine transportation to radically push the performance boundaries of electric boats and ships.

By combining sensors, computers and advanced submerged hydrofoils, our electric craft fly above the water, reaching speeds and range previously attained only by fossil fuel powerboats.

After launching Candela C-7, Europe’s currently best-selling electric boat, we just launched Candela C-8, the first electric boat intended for high volume production. We are also venturing into public transport with the revolutionary foiling P-30 ferry, built for the city of Stockholm.

We are now looking for a Full Stack Engineer to support Candela’s growth ambitions.

The position

At Candela, we do things a bit differently compared to other boatbuilders. Along the way, we decided to craft the digital experience of a Candela from the ground up, and this is where your skills are needed. All our boats are connected to a server which allows the users to control everything - from the cooler to navigation and allows our service team to access the software when the user is needing support. As we grow bigger, we want to increase the usability and functionality of the application by rewriting the code either as a web app or a native app. Cyber security and integrations will also be part of your daily work. In this role you will get to influence the architecture and infrastructure of the future Candela software.

To be successful in the role we believe that you are passionate about building mobile applications and that you thrive in an environment where you get lots of freedom and responsibility. You have probably worked 3+ years within the field or gained the knowledge through your own projects. We want you to have:

- Experience of building mobile applications - either as web applications (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) or native (react native or similar).
- Experience of backend development (we use Python)
- Experience of working in a Linux environment
- Ability to communicate fluently in English

It’s a bonus if you have:

- Experience of IOT
- Experience of MQTT

This is a full-time position at our Headquarter and production facility in Gåshaga, Lidingö, but we will move to Frihamnen during the spring. Working language is English, if you also know Swedish it will be a benefit for yourself, but it is not a prerequisite for the role.
