WHAT UTOPIANS DO

We are building a better world for music with innovative big data technology that tracks online music sources and translates them into meaningful music consumption reports for royalty collection. The solution we’re building does not threaten to usurp the role of industry incumbents - it is about bringing transparency in the industry and supporting efficient royalty collection.

WHAT YOUR ROLE WILL BE

In the realm of many of our products for music tagging, music recommendation, consumption and royalty reporting etc. we have the need for strong data pipelines.

Your role will be to create, maintain and improve those data pipelines and services that empower our AI systems and products.

We typically build a flexible system of databases and internal services that communicate with each other through HTTP or pub-sub, fetch data from large databases and preprocess data to provide it to other services along our AI stack, or postprocess data that comes from AI predictions.

In this role you will work as part of our Data Science & AI team working closely with data scientists and AI experts on devising the perfect pipelines to make our AI training and deployment processes run smoothly.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Discuss within the Data Science & AI team the needs and requirements for data pipelines, pre- and post-processing services, message flow, database requirements etc.
- Create routines for data validation, data cleansing, data preparation etc.
- Bring in your experience as a data engineer
- Build internal services for pre- and post-processing data, model (pre-)training routines, timely update of data at the right places etc.
- Work with either data science leads or product leads on the architecture and data flow of those services
- Come up with recommendations for the right database or datalake systems appropriate for various use cases
- Communicate with backend engineers for the setup and maintenance of such data services

THE IDEAL SKILLSET

- Bachelor or MSc degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or related fields
- 2+ years of experience in data engineering, data science or (big) data pipelines
- Good knowledge of Python and/or other programming languages
- Good programming skills and rigor in documentation and testing
- Good knowledge of various database systems
- Goal driven mindset
- Ability to work independently, but also as a good team-worker
- Proficiency in English

Bonus skills:

- Industry experience
- Experience with big data environments & technologies
- Experience with highly-scalable (distributed) database systems
- Experience with CI/CD
- Experience with MLOps
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud platform)
