Color & Material Design at Volvo Cars is inspired by the Scandinavian Design and Lifestyle, sustainability and innovation. The Scandinavian nature, culture and values influence the way how we do things. From that we create sustainable, beautiful and luxurious materials that strive to give a piece of our heritage to our customers.

Main responsibilities
As Specialist Designer Color & Material, you will support the creation and development of surface materials and patterns for multiple programs in the in creative phase, from conceptualizing and communicating design ideas to developing for production. You will work closely with other specialists in the areas of textiles, patterns, decos and trims. You will also support the VP Color & Material Design in strategic design, projects and design for sustainable solutions. 

Your other tasks will include:
•    Developing creative Color & Material Design ideas including new material processes and sustainable material solutions 
•    Collecting inspiration, materials and samples and creating tasteful moodboards
•    Conducting design trend research and benchmark
•    Communication of Color & Material Design within Design and the Product Creation 
•    Creating the best-looking color & material choices and collections for our customers
•    Preparation of tasteful presentations

Required qualifications:
•    Bachelor or Master’s degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Transportation Interior Design, Product Design or Industrial Design
•    Prior experience in Color & Material Design
•    Good understanding how colors and materials are supporting a specific character of a cars
•    Strong technical skills in Adobe Package (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, VRED), Blender, Rhino and Power Point.
•    Strong communication and presentation skills

On a personal level, we believe that you are a team player who has effective interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills.  We are looking for candidates who have the passion, energy and enthusiasm. You are a self- driven individual who can think strategically and has a fast understanding of complexity and ability to deal with different topics ant the same time. We would also like to see that you have excellent communication skills, as well as good verbal and written skills in English.
