Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.

Where You’ll Belong
Volvo Cars is committed to go fully electric by 2030 and mastering the battery is a key for us to success. Do you love to play with data and want to make a real impact on our electrification journey? Then you should join our small, but growing, team of Data Scientists at Traction Battery. We offer you varied work with room to follow exciting threads in the data until the end.

We will challenge you and expect you to do the same to bring out the best from each one of us. At the same time, we will offer you a comfortable lifestyle, Work-life Balance is something that infuses Volvo Cars. What does it mean to you? Maybe it is to have a home-baked “fredagsfika” or the benefit of our family bond*, anyhow we will not make you disappointed in this area!

What You’ll Do
You will perform data analyses based on measurement data from test/field/customer vehicles and develop early warning system for unexpected battery degradation in customer vehicles. Together with component owners and system architects, you will define ART requirements/needs for field data collection. You will also develop mathematical models for the prediction of HV traction battery behavior.

Your results will impact many internal stakeholders and be used to design both HW and SW components of the battery. In general, you will drive increased usage of data-driven development within the ART.

Your Competence
We see that you have a master’s degree in engineering, preferably within Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or similar with a couple of years of relevant experience. You will need skills in Python and scientific packages like NumPy, Pandas etc. and experience in building data pipelines, data transformation and data visualization.

You share our passion for vehicle electrification and enjoy being part of a team. Your analytic ability, creativity and interaction with different teams create a great atmosphere for innovative solutions. You have conceptual thinking, not afraid of taking vital actions when required.
