Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Human Factors, Psychology, Human Computer Interaction/Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience User Experience (UX), interaction design and UX Research.
  • Experience managing or leading design teams (i.e., interaction designer, visual designer, motion designer, UX researcher, etc).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Information Science.
  • Experience in quantitative research and statistical methods (i.e., sampling, weighting, statistical testing on attribute and continuous data, and Design of Experiments).
  • Experience working in or collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Product Management and Engineering.

You identify and set product strategy, envision complex UX ecosystems and inspire teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible. In this role, you will apply your passion for brand, craft, and design fidelity to guide research and design processes, mentor talented members of your team, and collaborate with leaders of other UX and Engineering teams to create innovative experiences across all of Google’s products.

Join the Reliability Infrastructure team at Google and help design and deliver the systems and products that will provide consistent and standardized infrastructure for Google Cloud Platform services. Our goal is to improve product quality and increase reliability by helping teams apply Google’s best practices and expertise.


Our solutions will inform, enable and empower internal and external engineering teams to build the most reliable products and services for our customers, on cloud and/or on premises. The team will bring engineering principles and agile delivery teams together to create products that help teams build the most reliable software and infrastructure products.


In this role, you will guide research and design processes, mentor talented members of your team, and collaborate with leaders of other UX and Engineering teams to create innovative experiences across Google’s products.

Responsibilities


  • Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship for a team of UX Designers and Researchers; lead creative and holistic thinking across diverse product releases, platforms, and devices.
  • Deliver a UX vision, along with a plan for evolutionary, iterative updates, that actualize the larger vision over time.
  • Define the UX research agenda for the Reliability Principles org, researching behaviors and needs to identify critical goals and journeys for our customers
  • Build strong relationships and operating rhythms with leaders inside and outside their core product team to efficiently implement user experiences that are cohesive, inclusive, and well-informed.
  • Be responsible for and effectively advocate for users in a fast-paced, corporate climate, imparting day-to-day design leadership that fosters a shared understanding of the user-centric intersection between design, content, business, and engineering.
