Systems Engineer - Software

Do you want to be part of creating history in Swedish Space Industry? In 2023, we plan to launch satellites from Esrange outside of Kiruna in the North of Sweden. Now there is a unique opportunity for you to be part of the establishment and operation of the orbital launch capability. We also have two operational rocket motor test stands and more test capabilities is currently under construction.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Systems Engineer, you will be part of our team that designs, establishes and operates our new facilities for rocket motor tests and orbital launches. During establishment phase, you will be part of our Spaceport project team, working on a variety of work packages. Over time, more specialized engineering roles will be needed, such as vehicle- and payload integration engineers, propellant-, mechanical-, inflight systems- and communication engineers. In the operational phase, you will be part of the launch team and continue to develop all supporting systems needed for our services. You will work in close collaborations with our customers, with emphasis on understanding our customer’s needs. This role will aim toward a software-based skillset as your main responsibility is overseeing software products required. The role has a certain level of flexibility depending on aptitude, interest and current need in the organisation.

WHO YOU ARE

You are a service minded person, thorough and work well with people. You can manage irregular hours, long shifts and travel to the test sites during campaigns.

We also believe you have:

• a good proficiency in English
• a university degree or corresponding experience in software engineering
• experience in software design

We would consider it a bonus should you also have:

• a good proficiency in Swedish
• prior experience in the space sector towards launch services
• understanding of software concepts such as design patterns, clean code, and the SOLID principles
• proficiency with programming (C, C++, C# etc)
• experience in cross-platform development

LOCATION

We offer a permanent position after 6-months trial period. Daytime 40h/week. As part of Orbital Launch & Rocket Test Department you will take part in launching and test campaigns which are scheduled outside normal working hours. The position is stationed at Esrange Space Center or at our Solna office. We require that you are an EU citizen and have a Swedish work permit.
