Who are we?

Basic Support Services (BSS) is one of the technology areas within Electrical and Electronics Architecture, which is part of the Vehicle Technology organization at Volvo Group Trucks Technology. The vision for BSS is to provide best in class embedded base SW and technologies for automated integration of application SW, including test platform, that enables SW driven transport solutions for Volvo.

The mission of the Base SW Alfa Group within BSS Sub stream is to provide best in class embedded software platform & technologies, that enable’s software-driven transport solutions for Volvo. We believe in “Software-Defined Everything” and strive to be in the forefront. We foster teamwork and collaboration with continuous improvement mind-set.

We are responsible for the complete life cycle, from strategy to maintenance of the on-board base SW platform which also implies that the group explores/uses both latest technology and tools as well as matured technology and tools. We have the product and technical ownership of the on-board base SW platform delivered by the team.

Our current products are Volvo Classic Autosar Platform and Volvo Dynamic Software Platform (VDSP) based on Adaptative Autosar and Hypervisor technologies.

About the position

You will lead the area of functional safety (based on ISO26262 standard) to define, develop and maintain a strong SW infrastructure for the Embedded System, that is scalable, affordable and allows quick development and installation of functionalities. You will lead the functional safety work of the Volvo Dynamic Software Platform and the Volvo Classic Autosar Platform scrum teams of highly experienced engineers. The scope is strategic and long-term, and you are responsible for the deliveries from early phases of the development cycle and all the way to integration and SW releases in some cases. The work is dependent on networking across the organization, as well as influencing the work in different parts of the organization. You are expected to work very closely with other product leaders in the BSS to deliver a complete SW platform together.

You will be our Functional Safety expert, a pro-active person with a pragmatic approach who can guide in planning & delivering concrete implementation level "hands-on" activities in an efficient way based on agile setup using as much automation as possible. There are different development teams based on agile setup dealing with SW & HW infrastructure including integration.

As a “Functional Safety Expert” you will guide these teams to:

• Formulate a plan on how their work process can be ISO26262 compliant and at the same time work in an agile development environment
• Build backlog of concrete activities around documentation, implementation & verification (code/hands-on level) in a smart and agile way
• Follow up on the team’s progress to ensure that expectations are reached e.g. via metrics.

Required qualifications

• MSc Degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Software Engineering or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
• Excellent hands-on experience working with ISO 26262/IEC_61508 standard for embedded systems
• You have very good programming skills in C and/or C++ in embedded environment and "hands-on" experience working with complex embedded software solution/design
• Interested in automation, CI and CD
• Capable to analyse and apply knowledge on not fully given frames. The product and procedures are given; however, the work requires experience and the capacity to perform analysis and draw conclusions from thousands of puzzle pieces in complex embedded system solution
• Eager to take operational responsibility in the day-to-day work and not hesitating to collaborate to get things done
• Experience of working in adaptive and classic autosar
• Experience with working in close collaboration with multiple suppliers
• Service mindset to provide a good SW platform to the user of it
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
