About this opportunity

You are to join the team of main SW Architects, driving the software architecture evolution of our products in the Radio Base Stations. Based on a very high competence in software design and in Radio Base Station (RBS) functionality, the SW Architects impact how we develop new functionality, initiate and drive larger architectural changes, and how we develop the code.

Our organization is developing and bringing world-leading 5G RAN and Multi standard RBS functionality to the market, based on technology leadership of Ericsson RAN solutions. We are responsible for the software modules handling the management of base station hardware and the management of the resources used for a connection through the base station. This is common functionality for all RAN standards (2G – 5G) and runs on all our base stations worldwide. We are developing SW both for purpose-built HW and for Cloud Native solutions, primarily in C++ but also in Java and Go. We are currently working mostly with 5G, Cloud, and even larger RBS configurations for larger capacity.

You will work at the Technology Management unit. Our mission is to drive and secure future proof SW architecture enabling new functionality to be added as efficient as possible and where a large number of agile teams can efficiently add new solutions.

What you will do

Look a few years ahead from now:

• Identify how our product needs to evolve
• Identify and evaluate new promising techniques
• Be our architect in early studies for future solutions
• Initiate and drive technical enablers
• Define the SW architecture

Look here and now on the intense feature growth:

• Participate in solution studies
• Drive continuous improvements of products
• Govern the architecture and the design
• Guide and support our teams regarding SW implementation architecture
• Cooperate with our SW development environment group to define the tooling and environment

You will work together with very skilled persons in an environment with high possibility for you to grow within the SW field.

You will bring

• A strong and broad interest in software development and in software architecture
• High knowledge in many programming languages and paradigms including C++ and Java
• Long experience in large embedded software systems
• Preferably good knowledge in virtualization/cloud native
• A merit but not a requirement: Good domain knowledge within RBS functionality
• Ability to move between high level strategies and low-level code implementation
• Ability to be an informal technical leader and good at networking
• Confident in taking ownership for your tasks and act independently
