Hey you!

If this were a typical job ad, we would point out all the things that are great about us to entice you to join our company. Even small things, like being part of solving the energy crisis in Europe and saving the planet.

We would throw in some buzz words and superlatives on how incredibly unique our company is; like how we were founded in 2013 and, thanks to that, have a stable foundation and are now ramping up our tech department to accelerate the creation of a better tomorrow.

We would probably also use the selling point for you as a Tech Lead to be part of building up a new tech department, leading the way within green-tech. And working with our app that enables hundreds of thousands of clients around Europe to live greener lives and is a key interface for our customers.

Right around here, we’d encourage you to send in your CV & cover letter. But that’s old school, and no one likes writing cover letters anyway.

So we thought we’d switch it up.

We talked to our Head of Software Engineering (and avid power shifter) Erik Tilleby, and asked him to tell us more about being a Tech Lead for our app:

So Erik, you’re in charge of the expansion of Svea Solar’s tech department. What’s in store for 2022?
First and foremost, we’re building up the team to ensure that we can take the next step to continue our leading position in the solar energy industry. We’re only just getting started in this shift, and we’re looking for a lot of new team members to help accelerate this growth. As App Tech Lead, you’ll be central in ensuring our customer app is functional, good-looking, and user-friendly. With so many new customers joining Svea Solar each week, your role will be one of many parts of driving a successful customer experience.

What are you looking for in a App Tech Lead?
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have a good technical knowledge of Typescript, Javascript, React Native, and other front-end / mobile frameworks. Also, you would most likely know common web technologies such as HTML5, SCSS, CSS3, GraphQL, and REST APIs. Since you’ll be leading other developers, you would have a background in being a leader for other engineers and enjoy coaching and problem solving with your team.

Erik, what is it like to work with you?
My way of working is always linked to freedom under responsibility. I attach great importance to everyone being allowed to do the work they were hired for. As a technical leader, I will build our collaboration around shared goals driving to deliver reliable, repeatable, and sustainable outcomes. Your success will be my success.

The most frequently asked question the past year: what’s your take on remote work?
Living a couple of hours away from Stockholm myself, I’m really happy that Svea offers a flexible working model. In the tech department, we will make sure to meet up each month in person. But we are more interested in getting the right people on our team than where they live in Sweden.

Sound like something interesting? You know what to do.

Interested in some more facts?

-Our tech department in Stockholm is growing from 15 to 30, so you’ll be part of building our department and building your own team.

-Swedish founded Svea Solar is one of Europe’s biggest solar energy companies, and the better we scale our business, the better we can solve the energy crisis in Europe

-Since the beginning, our vision has been to lead the shift to a more sustainable future by offering our customers a smart, beautiful, and accessible solution to renewable energy.

-In short, we’re building a complete ecosystem of products and smart software services to optimize and control the production and consumption of energy.
