We are looking for a Senior Android Developer to be part of the Ownership team where we focus on letting our connected car owners manage their subscriptions. Given that our cars are becoming smarter day by day and imagining what the future might hold for car owners when it comes to software offers, the scope of our team is getting only bigger, more exciting and challenging. We are a group of skilled people, currently engaged in agile product development for the Volvo Cars app. We want everyone on our team to think and act as an owner. What you'll do
As a developer in our team you will work with helping our users view, extend and initiate the relevant subscriptions and software offers for a more convenient and engaging experience. You will work with the discovery and delivery of mobile application experiences in an empowered product team. This will include rapid development of prototypes/concepts as well as regular product development to push mobile development at Volvo Cars to the next level. You'll design and build applications for the Android platform and ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications. You'll collaborate with other engineers (working on Android, iOS and backend), Product, and UX partners to define, design, and ship new features as well as fix bugs and help maintain code quality, organization, and automation.
You and your skills
We are looking for a talented and passionate Android developer with knowledge and experience of Android and Kotlin. You have good communication skills and are always ready to contribute to / lead discussions about how to improve existing solutions, code base and processes. You are experienced with agile development and modern software tech company best practices. You like sharing your knowledge and coaching your colleagues when possible.
You should know your way around Google's Android app design principles, have a clear understanding of Android SDK and its key components, have a passion for learning and pushing barriers, writing readable, beautiful code and making delightful user experiences. You should have knowledge of Unit and Integration Testing techniques, be familiar with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services, have experience using version control tools and continuous integration.
