We are looking for developers who have an expert's depth and breadth of experience of building high availability, scalable web applications and delightful user experiences. You will be proficient in instructing and leading by example, and able to mentor other developers. Day to day, our cross-functional teams write code in Typescript, Javascript, and Java. As someone who is passionate about development, you'll be open to picking up new languages and frameworks in the frontend world when the situation arises. We are continually aiming for the highest quality, and work in small, focussed teams following bits of Scrum, Kanban, with a healthy dose of Extreme Programming. You will work with people who care about well written, test-driven, clean code, the user experience and all the appealing stuff that's involved with automatically tested, zero-touch deployed applications. The team works very closely and like to pair program on pretty much everything.

Our developers decide on the right tool for the job, so you should be comfortable in doing the same. We're looking for phenomenal developers, with an opinion, and the capability to back it up.

About the team

The European Regional Development team is based in Dreilinden (Berlin) and is part of the global Core Product and Technology team. We enable commerce at scale and have massive customer impact. Whilst doing all this, we are on a mission to improve eBay technology, drive agile adoption and demonstrate customer-centric development targeted towards our customers in Europe. While focussing on local market needs, we also chip in to eBay’s global product and technology portfolio. To do this, we improve existing experiences, build or extend core products and experiment with new innovations to make the lives of eBay customers better.

Job requirements

• Strong hands-on background in Typescript, JavaScript, and Node.js

• Fluidity in frontend frameworks such as React or Marko (https://markojs.com/)

• Great interest in User Interfaces and User Experience

• Experience with agile development methodologies, Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI/CD

• Knowledge in Java and micro service architecture would be a big plus
