Backend Engineer

We’re looking for a Backend engineer to join our small team and make Kive an indispensable tool for every creative in the world. We care deeply about user experience and ease of use. We had enough of dealing with slow and clunky tools. For this, we’re looking for engineers who care about design and like to work on features from ideation to release, enhance existing features and come up with entire new creative ways to make our users more productive.

In this role you will

• Work in close collaboration with other engineers and designers.
• Do the best work of your career and work regular hours.
• Co-own the product. Have high autonomy, and take responsibility where you see the need. Make yourself indispensable to the team.
• Improve developer productivity. Creating force multiplier effects for your team-mates, like processes, tooling, instrumentation, automation etc to improve the development workflow.

You'll be a great fit if

• You have a solid backend experience. 5+ years of experience as a backend developer. Proficiency with Node.js/TS + one more server-side language. Strong experience working with both relational and document-based database technologies. Know your way around with cloud services like AWS or GCP, CI workflows, testing etc.
• You’re system thinker. Design and develop distributed systems in a principled way and take part in high impact architectural decisions. Engage in stimulating technical challenges in topics such as very large databases, SQL processing, data modelling, or systems performance.
• You’re an empathetic communicator. You have good collaboration and communication skills and treat technology as tradeoffs. You may be opinionated but you’re not ideological. When disagreeing, you speak up, but always commit when a decision has been made.
• You don’t need to get told what to do and are proactive picking up work yourself.
• You’re productive and write quality code. You can direct yourself in your work and break down big projects into small deliverables. You care about the outcome and take a pragmatic approach to deliver it.
