Data Engineer

Do you have experience with cloud platforms, data application development with Python, database operations and maintenance? Could you imagine developing digital solutions to optimize Fortum Hydro plant maintenance and other important projects creating cleaner energy solutions?   

We are looking for a Data Engineer with experience in building and operating big data solutions to join our Asset & Markets Data Platforms team. Data Platforms teams are a part of a larger Data Management team that helps our internal customers to develop and operate our data-related services such as data lakes, warehouses, and visualization applications in a modern cloud environment using the latest technology and methodology. As your first project, you would be working closely with Fortum’s Hydro business in an international cross-functional agile team developing digital solutions to optimize Fortum Hydro plant maintenance. You would report to the Manager, Asset & Markets Data Platforms. The position is hybrid and located in Stockholm Solna. 

Responsibilities

Ensure operational health of the application database (PostgreSQL TimeScale) 

Design and implement data solutions, pipelines, visualization, and infrastructure defined in the product backlogs  

Review the work of other data engineers and application developers  

Transforms business problems into data pipelines and applications  

Contributes to the development, operations, and architectural design of complex data platforms  

Actively finds ways to learn from team members and stakeholders, and shares knowledge beneficial to the team

Essential 

Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and data application development with Python 

Understanding database operations and maintenance 

Understanding agile software processes, data-driven development, and data security concepts 

Willingness to take care of the stability of the productional database 

Eligibility to work in Sweden (work permit/ visa/ citizenship)  

Highly motivated and proactive mentality toward responsibilities 

Strong communication and presentation skills in English (written and oral) 

An advantag

Hands-on experience in IoT data (Kepware Server), streaming data (Kafka or AWS Kinesis), data visualization (Grafana), or data application development with React 

Experience in handling time series data, especially with PostgreSQL TimeScale 

Creating and managing cloud infrastructure with Terraform
