Software Developer in Gaming Company

Are you a software developer with an interest in gaming who wants to work in a fast-paced start-up environment? If so, Nordic Empire has an exciting opportunity for you to join our growing team and develop awesome games!

Nordic Empire released its first computer game in April this year. Our debut release was a huge success so therefore we are looking to expand our team and develop more games! We are based in central Stockholm and work together in an office with an open and collaborative environment. We are currently a small startup company so each employee will share a variety of general responsibilities in addition to their more specialized roles.

We are specifically looking for a programmer who also has a strong background in physics and mathematics and knowledge of low level coding and optimization; we want to make games that can go beyond the limits and overhead of preexisting engines and run smoothly even with large crowds of characters and rich interactive environments.

Due to the small and flexible nature of the startup team, there are other areas where the applicant may be able to contribute. There will be an opportunity to contribute artwork and sound effects, so skills in those areas would be an asset. Any skills which could assist in marketing (photo and video editing, website development) would also be an asset.

Fluency in English is a requirement for writing proper documentation of the code so it can potentially be used by international developers in the future. It is also a major asset for writing text and dialogue lines in games and marketing them to a mainly American and English-speaking audience.

The position is full-time and we want you to start as soon as possible since the lack of game developers hinders our expansion.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Undergraduate degree or higher in computer science, engineering or a related field with a strong background in physics and mathematics

- Experience with C/C++

- Fluency in English

- 1-2 years experience in game development, programming or equivalent

ASSETS:

- Experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, website development

- Experience with photo and video editing software

- Experience in digital art

- Experience editing sound effects

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

- Experience working in a start-up environment: multi-tasking, fast learning, highly adaptable
