Are you a computer scientist with a desire to apply your skills to drive drug design with artificial intelligence? Can you imagine yourself contributing to finding life changing medicines?

We are looking for a new colleague to join our Deep Chemistry team in the Molecular AI department at our vibrant R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden. We will make sure that your engineering skills combined with your high ambition and enthusiasm gives you a terrific opportunity to influence the development of AstraZeneca's future in developing methods that will impact drug discovery projects. What you will do

You will have a profound impact on multiple projects across AstraZeneca with a focus on building software and models that are used to discover new drugs. This will involve:

* Building pipelines for robust reaction data extractions
* Building pipelines for (re)training machine learning models for predictive chemistry such as synthesis predictions and activity models
* Continuous improvement of our retrosynthesis software
* Develop solutions for privacy preserving ML
* Work closely with computational & medicinal chemists to understand user requirements
* Work closely with engineers to bring new codes and models to the users
* Contribute to open-source projects

Essential in the role:
We believe that you have a true passion for building software and models, and applying those to problems in life sciences. You have a degree in computer science or another similar discipline. Your collaboration skills will be of essential importance.

* PhD in computer science or equivalent experience
* Extensive experience in ML/AI
* Excellent coding skills preferable in Python
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable in the role:

Experience and deep understanding of how to build robust, reproducible and extensible software, training efficient ML models and putting those into production. You would benefit from having experience or some familiarity with

* ML Ops concepts
* Working with large datasets
* Privacy preserving ML concepts
* Chemistry, computational chemistry or cheminformatics
