The Challenge Ahead
We are looking for highly motivated engineers to join ESN in developing Battlelog and future companion experiences. We look for a frontend web developer with an eye for details and passion for UI performance. You will be part of a dedicated team, developing next-gen companion apps for players of Battlefield and other EA titles.
Battlelog is currently integrated with four AAA games and we are continuously working on adding and improving our feature set. Therefore we need to expand our web team with more skilled people. Battlelog is developed by ESN, an innovative studio within Electronic Arts, located in Uppsala just 40 minutes north of Stockholm. We pioneered the development of web centric gaming for traditional desktop based games and real-time web 10 years ago. Since then we have grown from a group of garage coders into a team of dedicated developers deploying a vast arsenal of tools to get the job done.
What a Frontend Web Developer does at EA
Responsibilities
- Develop first-class user experiences using JavaScript and Python.
- Bring designs to life visually with web UI technology.
- Work closely with game teams, both at ESN and within DICE and other EA studios.
- Develop UI that works across web views on multiple devices, including mobile, tablet and desktop.

Qualities we are looking for
- Tech oriented university degree
- Excellent skills in developing web UI (JavaScript/HTML/CSS and Chrome Dev Tools/Firebug)
- Excellent skills in UI performance and optimization across browsers and devices.
- Experience with web development
- Strong language skills – excellent spoken and written English
- Understanding the full web stack, from frontend to backend.
Desired
- Active player on Battlelog and of DICE games
- Good knowledge of Python
- Experience with HTTP and RESTful applications
- Comfortable working with Unix type systems
- Experience of developing mobile web apps
- Experience of working with web apps reaching large user base
- Good command of Swedish
