About this opportunity

Product Development Unit Radio (PDU Radio) drives the end-to-end research and development of Ericsson’s radio products and solutions. We are a global organization, within Development Unit Networks (DNEW), of approximately ~4000 engineers and developers collaborating across nine sites in Canada, China and Sweden to drive Ericsson’s strategy of securing our ongoing market leadership in 5G radios and in the future products.

Continuous Integration & Infrastructure department consists of global teams working in several areas like our HW/SW lab, Development Environment, Test Framework, Build and Delivery, Machine Learning, Frontend Tools and Services, Configuration Management and Operation.

We lead the development of the Radio Software Production Product and our goal is to have best-in-class CI flows, tools and services that are intelligent and provides fast and relevant feedback to developers. Our machinery secures legacy products and speeds up faster product development and will enable developers to work more efficient.

Our Exciting Opportunity

We are building up a fully automated flow for Product Handling including registration and releasing for SW products and continuously improve the HW product handling with automation tool. You will be the primary driver for this transformation and helping us optimizing our current CI flows and evolving it with new ideas and technologies.

What you will do

  • Analyse requirements
  • Define and drive strategies for configuration management Automation Tools
  • Co-ordinate the development of CM automation tool with development teams.
  • Evolve the product structure for new radio product architecture
  • Maintain and update product structures, build and release document overviews for new products
  • Store and release SW and HW Ericsson Radio System products
  • Test and evaluate automation of Product Deliveries with Ericsson internal tool
  • Drive the process and WoW improvements across sites globally
  • Collaborate outside your team to identify innovations and opportunities

You will bring

  • BSc/MSc degree in electrical engineering / Engineering Physics / Data communication, or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of working with SW development
  • Ability to program or script e.g., in Python, BASH, tsch, etc.
  • Good understanding of CI/CD and DevOps
  • Good understanding of Configuration Management or Release Management
  • Product development knowledge and Product Lifecycle Management knowledge
  • Working experience from automation of large build and delivery systems
  • Motivation and drive to work with CI in a fast-paced environment with high quality deliveries
  • Familiarity with common CI practices, tools, and ways of working
  • Planning and Organizing skills
  • Ability to work with both short-term and long-term objectives, involving the big picture as well as implementation details
  • Good skills in innovating, adapting and responding to change
  • Easy to collaborate and be outgoing
  • The motivation to learn and constantly improve processes and tools
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English

Additional Requirements

  • Write scripts (Python, BASH, …)
  • Work with Yocto Project/AutoTools/Makefiles
  • Work with CI automation such as Jenkins
  • Work with message buses like Kafka/RabbitMQ
  • Experience with Frontend development is a plus.
  • Basic Linux knowledge
  • Knowledge of Git
  • Knowledge within the area of CI/CD systems as well as automation
  • Knowledge of Jenkins (JobDSL and Pipeline plugins among others)
  • Understanding of virtualization, container deployments and container orchestration platforms e.g. Kubernetes, Docker
  • Understanding of other technologies such as Gerrit, Argo CD, Helm, Nexus, Artifactory, Meson.
  • Good knowledge about Radio system
  • Radio SW/HW product development knowledge
