The new multi brand studio, Geely Design Center Gothenburg, is a part of the multi-cultural global network of Geely Design studios dedicated to supporting the efforts of Geely Auto Group sub brands. Our Design Center in Gothenburg is the global headquarters for Geely Design and focuses on delivering great design for the two brands: Zeekr and Lynk & Co.

We are a fast-growing team of both creative and management professionals with the task of delivering exciting global products suitable for volume production and innovative concepts. In an inspiring studio environment, we build and maintain a top-class design team of multiple nationalities. With best in class processes and tools we challenge preconceptions and deliver premium car design.

We are now looking for Senior Interaction Designer who will be responsible of designing market-leading UX in digital and physical touchpoints for the Lynk&Co brand. As a Senior Designer you may also be asked to take on a team leading role for internal or external projects or products.

You will work within the HMI & UX Design department, a true cross-functional team where inter-disciplinary focus, curiosity and drive are highly valued. Our mission is to create a digital and interaction experience that excites as well as delights, to set a new industry standard through the use of digital surfaces, physical interaction points, light and sound. We work in close collaboration with all other design departments, as well as with Engineering and Marketing, to shape the mobility experience of the future.

This is what you will do most of the time:

You will challenge the way our users interact with and use the car, with special focus on touch points beyond the traditional screens, and apply systems thinking to information and experience design to find new ways to engages both driver and passengers through digi-physical or physical touchpoints along a user journey.

You will participate throughout the entire design process, from inspiration and research to building prototypes and communicating the vision for in-car digi-physical experiences. Together with a team, you contribute to the development, evaluation and documentation of novel, physical or digi-physical interaction concepts in the interior or exterior.

You will collaborate on designing, running, and testing new solutions through experiments and prototypes at varying levels of fidelity. From visual storytelling, wireframing, click-through prototypes and animations to functional interactive prototypes. You systematically ensure that concepts are coherent, satisfy user needs and expectations, understand user pain points as well as meeting safety and regulatory requirements, and minimize driver distraction.

To create new opportunities, you will explore and identify focus areas for user research, selecting appropriate research methodologies, and synthesize user research results into actionable insights for iterative concept development.

Required background and skills

Bachelor’s degree in Interaction design, human factors, human computer interaction, or related field. We are looking after the combination of this disciplines. New inter-disciplinary programs are of interest.

Minimum 5 years of experience designing across multiple platforms

Experience from collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of designers, researchers, engineers, strategists and product managers throughout the design process

Experience of building mockups and prototypes, from digital to tangible proofs of concept

Diverse portfolio highlighting projects that demonstrate experience in crafting digital or physical user interfaces with a wide range of interaction models

Driver’s license

Fluent in English, spoken and written

Nice-to-haves

It is also beneficial for this rile if you have any of the following:

Master’s degree in Interaction design, human factors, human computer interaction or related field

Prior experience in developing interfaces to meet safety/driver distraction standards

Previous experience developing interfaces/interactions for high-workload dynamic environments (e.g. vehicles, aircraft)

Experience of moderating brainstorming and ideation sessions

Understanding of web development languages

Understanding of prototyping HW such as Arduino & Raspberry Pi

Motion design (After Effects and Premiere) and 3D software (Blender, VRED)

Is it you?

We are looking for someone who is flexible, has a strong drive and is able to work under constrained time schedules and frequently revised circumstances. To be successful in the role you also need to be structured, methodical and have an analytical mind with good planning skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, ability to drive concepts and ideas forward as well as ability to motivate and convince others are necessary for this role. Moreover, you are creative problem solver who is passionate to work on complex challenges. Last but not least, cultural awareness, specifically between Europe and Asia is also an important factor for the role.

Additional information

Travels to Asia may be needed (approx. 1-2 per year).

Each individual in our team has a high level of responsibility and mandate and is expected to be able to work autonomously.
