You will be part of the automation research and development team in ABB Marine & Ports in Västerås and will contribute as Automation Software Engineer developing our base standard for Ship-To-Shore and Automated Stacking Cranes.

In this important role, you will actively work with implementation of automation solutions, crane control and sensor systems.

Manager for Motion Control & Sensor department

Your responsibilities

• Developing systems and solutions for crane automation in IEC 61131-3 Structured Text.
• Working on both regular as well as safety related functionality.
• Developing software architecture documentation for developed solutions.
• Expanding your knowledge base of customer needs and technological developments in software engineering and automation.
• Pursuing new ideas for technological innovation and sharing expertise in team meetings and technical reports.

Your background

• A Masters’ degree in Control Engineering, Physics, Robotics, Mechatronics or similar.
• Basic understanding of control theory.
• Competency in relevant programming languages 1131-3 Structured Text, Matlab, Python.
• Open to travel globally and support projects introducing new functions.
• A high level of self-motivation, curiosity, and desire to learn about new technologies.
• A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach, and strong communication skills.
• Positive and proactive mindset and the ability to create a good atmosphere.
• English required, Swedish not mandatory but beneficial.
