Lead Data Engineer

We need the ability to gain fast insights from usage of our services to enable short cycles of product refinement and be able to develop new data-driven services based on all of our data.

During 2020 we began migrating our backend services to the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with the ambition of being one of the few banks with cloud-based services in a highly regulated industry. During 2021 we started to build our next generation data & analytics environment on top of that and also on GCP.

The role is part of a team consisting of data engineering, business intelligence and data science competence responsible for the new environment, spanning from data pipelines to dashboards to data-driven services.

As a Lead Data Engineer your main tasks and responsibilities will be to

- Lead the technical direction of the Data Platform.
- Participate in day-to-day development activities related to building data pipelines to ensure the data from various sources are stored and transformed into a format suitable for analysis and data-driven services.
- Take responsibility for the quality of solutions, testing and that best practices are being used.
- Actively drive collaboration both within the team and towards other teams and departments.
- Follow news and be aware of trends within the area.
- Be an ambassador for the Data Platform internally.
- Keep up with what’s happening in the company and how those initiatives affect the Data Platform.
- Be an ambassador of data in general and the Data Platform in particular.

You are passionate about software development and continuous improvement, and you want to contribute with your experience and expertise. In your work, you are organised, methodical and professional in a way that benefits the team’s working climate and ability to deliver high quality solutions.

We believe that most of the following characteristics describes you:

- Previous experience from leading the technical direction of an area.
- An excellent communicator that doesn’t hesitate to hold presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience from building data pipelines in a cloud environment but also more general software development experience and understanding of different data structures is meriting.
- Understand modern data concepts such as data mesh and the impact it will have on traditional data architectures.
- Familiarity with SQL, Python & Java, and have experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD when it comes to data.
