Mentimeter serves hundreds of millions of users with services that we deploy roughly 40 times a week. With transaction loads up to hundreds of votes per second, we have to be sure we can scale while still delivering a fast and smooth experience.

You will be part of a cross-department team focusing on improving the holistic user experience on the web page. The team will be co-staffed by Marketing and Product and thus we are looking for a talented Frontend Engineer/Web Developer to help start up the team. We offer a friendly but fast-paced environment where you will be challenged with technically difficult tasks and be given a lot of responsibility from day one.

What you'll do

You will be working in our Organic Growth Team, a cross-functional team that is composed of key roles from both Product and Marketing. The team is responsible for providing the best experience to our customers from various marketing channels, running experiments to help us understand them better and influence Product's strategy and roadmap.

As a Frontend Software Developer, you will be responsible for the development, performance, and scaling of our public website as well as internal systems. You will work independently and will also be responsible for making technical decisions within a team with focus on organic acquisition.

You will balance discovery and implementation work, new customer facing features and managing tech debt and technical initiatives, prioritizing them based on customer impact.

You will do a lot of hands-on development but also take responsibility for making sure that the technical solutions are scalable and hold a high level of quality. As an experienced engineer, we also expect you to take our frontend craft to the next level and enable us to onboard more junior engineers and proactively foster colleagues to grow professionally.

Since Employee Experience (also known as Developer Experience) is very important to us, we expect you to bring your expertise by influencing which tools, programming languages, and technologies you work with while helping us ensure we have a smooth software pipeline for continuous and fast delivery.

Skills & Requirements

Who you are

In addition to being a good cultural fit (see our values below), we hope that you bring a passion for software development, scalable architecture and building great products. For us, is it important that everyone cares about code quality so an interest in both testing and automation will be something we will be looking for.

Since this team is all about growth, you are likely motivated by things like KPIs, lead generation and using an experiment-driven approach.

  • 5+ years of experience as a frontend engineer (not being concerned about getting hands dirty with some backend task)
  • Solid experience with frontend frameworks/libraries, ideally with React.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS).
  • Experience debugging cross-browser compatibility issues.
  • You know your way around Page Speed Optimization and have a great eye for details
  • Good knowledge of 3rd party experimentation and monitoring technologies such as Split.io, Optimizely and Google Experiment.
  • Automation and testing.

You will stand out if you can bring some expertise in:

  • Google optimize, Google analytics and Google tag manager
  • Contentful
  • Test-driven frontend code
  • Previous experience as Tech Lead
  • Experience working with design systems
  • Previous experience working with a SaaS platform

Excellent communication skills and being able to work both independently and in a team are some other traits we are looking for in all of our colleagues.
