Are you as inspired as we are by the combination of electrochemistry, multiphysics simulations and mathematical modeling? Do you want to work in a team of driven and talented colleagues? Would you like to develop the world-leading tool for electrochemical engineering simulations? If so, read on.

Your Role

In our Stockholm office, we develop our multiphysics product family, used worldwide in research and development (R&D) and computer-aided engineering (CAE). Our software enables users to solve complex science and engineering problems, thanks in part to our intuitive and flexible graphical user interface.

You will join the electrochemistry team, working with the development of the Battery Design, Fuel Cell & Electrolyzer, Corrosion, Electrodeposition and Electrochemistry Modules in our flagship COMSOL Multiphysics software. The team’s main responsibility is to develop tools for physics-based modeling of electrochemical systems. The goal is to maintain COMSOL’s world leading position in delivering a complete software solution for continuum modeling of electrochemical cells. We want to expand the team with a new developer who will work on new user interfaces, improved numerical methods for electrochemical transport problems, as well as development of new tutorials and proof-of-concept models. Most development is done using the COMSOL Multiphysics software platform itself, but some development is done using the Java programming language. Advanced customer and technical sales support constitute integral parts of the role.

At COMSOL you will

  • Start working within your specific area of expertise, with the goal to gradually expand your knowledge and expertise to all areas of electrochemistry
  • Support the full life-cycle of the models, tutorials and user-interfaces you participate in developing, from design to development, testing and maintenance
  • Help electrochemical engineers worldwide solve real problems

Your Profile

You are passionate about problem-solving, open-minded, value team work, detailed-oriented, and understand the importance of putting the user experience first and foremost. The ideal candidate has:

  • A PhD, MSc, or equivalent degree in engineering physics or chemical engineering
  • Experience in continuum modeling of transport problems, involving for instance the Navier-Stokes equations, Fick’s law of diffusion or the Nernst-Planck equations, using partial differential equations
  • Experience in numerical simulations using discretization methods such as finite elements or finite volumes
  • Solid understanding of thermodynamics and kinetics of (electro)chemical systems
  • While not a strict requirement for the position, prior industrial or academic experience in electrochemical engineering for e. g. batteries, fuel cells, electrolyzers or corrosion protection, is deemed extra valuable

As a member of the electrochemistry team, you will quickly start working on development projects where you will have many opportunities to influence the design and implementation of improved functionality. As the company is growing continuously, we will strive to make you an expert within the most areas of electrochemistry in a few years. Along the way, you will collaborate with experienced colleagues in other groups to develop cutting-edge multiphysics functionality. In addition to an exciting career working on a sophisticated software product, we also offer a competitive salary, individual pension plans, sponsored gym membership (“friskvårdsersättning”) and social get-togethers. We respect your leisure time and need for a work-life balance. Our office is located in central Stockholm.
