We're looking for a very experienced software engineer to join us as a foundational member of the team to deliver new and improved big data and analytics services and infrastructure capable of ingesting trillions of telemetry events per day, storing, querying, and analysing PBs of data.
Responsibilities
Drive definition and implementation of a multi-tenant ML data platform
Employ and improve industry-leading, scalable, distributed open-source technologies
Build back-end data systems from scratch that are capable of handling trillion+ events per day
Facilitate operation of highly-available distributed systems at scale and across multiple locations
Facilitate others in deploying, operating, and extending upon your clean, tested code
Work with data engineers and data scientists to drive efficient solutions from the platform
Mentor and manage data engineers and data scientists as team lead
Requirements
10+ years of experience and deep understanding of Kafka, Spark, Hadoop open-source distributed systems
10+ years of experience in writing highly efficient Java code, strong programming fundamentals, particularly in data structures, concurrency
5+ years of experience in building, operating, and optimizing highly available, scalable, distributed back-end data services ingesting over trillion events per day, storing and serving over PB of data
5+ years of experience with public cloud infrastructure such as AWS
3+ years of experience with localizing data per data regulations in US, EU, globally
3+ years of experience with securing and protecting data under GDPR
Ability to break down and deeply understand complex problems and communicate complex matters efficiently
Strong problem solving skills, optimizing for the simplest, most robust yet practical solutions
Reliable, dependable, trustworthy, participating team member
Smart but humble, with a bias for action
Nice to Have
Proficiency in Python or Scala
Experience working in senior role at startup
Open-source contributions
Presenting at international conferences
