Tech Lead, Customer & Commercial Solutions

We are looking for a software development leader with excellent skills in software craftsmanship. As a tech lead you will be acting as a role model and will help build and lead a cross-functional team of developers. You will deliver incremental value to our world-class products while providing technical guidance and mentorship. The tech lead influences and drives software design discussions, with quality, security, technical debt, and cost-effectiveness in mind, while also staying involved in day-to-day software development. They ensure that best practices are implemented and that technical solutions align with SAS technical vision and principles.


Challenges you will work on

  • In a fast-changing environment, continuously prioritize and balance tech, business and external requirements.
  • Understand and translate those requirements into working software.
  • Forecast potential risks, such as security and operational risks, and take action to mitigate them.
  • Understand and work across the team's entire stack, using modern tools, languages, and frameworks.

As a Tech Lead at SAS you will

  • Develop relationships with product teams, engineering, designers, and key stakeholders.
  • Drive excellent software craftsmanship and a continuous delivery mindset on a daily basis.
  • Review code and technical solution quality as well as promote a collaborative team culture.
  • Be jointly responsible (together with the DPO) for coaching and giving ongoing feedback to support team members’ personal development.
  • Organize and participate in pair- and mob programming.
  • Ensure that best practices are implemented and that technical solutions align with SAS enterprise architecture principles, security practices, tech vision, and other guiding agreements
  • Participate in CV screening and interviewing of candidates for the team.

To be successful, we believe you should have:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development including actual day-to-day coding.
  • Education and experience in software engineering; technologies and frameworks such as (but not limited to) Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript/Typescript, Node.js, React, and Kubernetes.
  • Deep understanding of agile development practices.
  • Proven experience as a technical leader for a team, working together with Product Owners, Designers, Business Analysts, Developers, Testers, etc.
  • Experience in coaching and supporting junior colleagues.
  • Understand the quality and long-term impact of complex technical decisions.
  • Navigating ambiguity and exercising good judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Stakeholder management and people skills.
  • Strong communication skills and passion for collaboration, establishing great relationships across competencies.
