Senior Software Engineer – Database Development

About the position

They aim to design and implement features in the database kernel to build a more competitive cloud database service. For developers, this entails challenging and exciting tasks connected to programming and software development.

You will be working on state-of-the-art technology with colleagues passionate about innovation. Your primary responsibilities will be, among others, Optimisieing and upgrading software, recommending software upgrades or fixes for existing systems, and running regular tests and maintenance checks of software. You will get a rare opportunity to influence from chip design to cloud storage, to new database architecture designed for a new generation of hardware, and all these in close contact with our customers. This position requires hands-on programming, and your excitement for software development is essential.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Communication Technology, Informatics, Mathematics, or other relevant fields
• Preferably research experience in the database field
• Preferably working experience developing database management systems, including contributing to open source database projects, e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, DuckDB.
• Good programming skills, preferably in C++
• Strong problem-solving abilities and collaborative skills
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
