About the role

As our quest to democratize financial services continues at blazing speed, The team is looking for a passionate Backend Developer with a good deal of experience with an agile mindset to join Zettle's journey .

In this role, you will co-tackle a wide range of challenges together with a group of passionate groundbreakers driven by the shared ambition to develop hassle-free solutions improving the everyday life of small businesses.

You get to actively contribute to all aspects of the backend, while being involved in other facets of the software engineering including infrastructure, data, deployment, monitoring, architecture, code reviews, and more. In other words, here no day is like another!

The Skills To Succeed

As we believe in using the best tools for the task, we continuously review our toolkit, architecture, ways of working, and we’re open to new technologies and frameworks. Today we notably work with Java, Python, Dropwizard, Spring Boot, Docker, Terraform, PostgreSQL, some React frontends and everything is hosted on AWS.

To thrive in this role, we think that you would benefit from having a experience with:

• Java frameworks as Dropwizard or Spring Boot.
• API Integrations.
• Building distributed systems with REST.
• Working with continuously delivered systems.
• SQL and data modelling with PostgreSQL.
• Cloud development with Docker, preferably in AWS.
• Terraform.
• Pair/Mob programming.

The traits to excel

• An interest for working with product & design as well as for solving complex challenges in small, agile and cross-functional teams.
• A keen motivation for collaborating with a wide range of talented people within the business functions and other engineering teams.
• A natural drive for sharing your knowledge, experience and opinions while respecting the necessity to make decisions as a team.
• A constant desire to learn combined with an endless appetite for exploring new things.

Earn extra points if you have experience with:

• Microservice architecture.
• Automated testing mindset (TestContainers/JUnit).
• GraphQL.
• Cassandra or other NoSQL databases.
• React or similar Javascript frameworks.
• Interest in FinTech in general and Risk and Compliance
