Technical Visualisation Artist
The Technical Visualisation team within Design Operations at Volvo Cars Design is looking for a new consultant to be part of the daily operations of creating an optimised digital car dataset which form a basis for digital visualisation 3D and XR assets.

The team has a focus on realising design projects into commercial assets mainly through the concepts Digital Twin and Digital Universe. By creating a customer digital twin car dataset, improve content creation pipeline and enable for creation of customer experiences of tomorrow, we create the opportunity for our surrounding world to explore our products.

What you will do:
We are looking for an experienced Technical Visualisation Artist with focus on lowpolygon modelling and geometry optimisation. The main focus will be on data (geometry) optimisation tools, workflow automation, data structure maintenance and organisation. You will also model both organic and hard surfaces, environments and props. Knowledge of shaders and textures in order to apply simple surfacing to modeled assets is a big plus. You will work closely with project managers, expert engineers, developers, design managers and designers to build up and visual signoff visualisation model.

Do you fit the profile?
We believe you have experience working as a Technical Visualisation Artist in the automotive or gaming industry. You have advanced software skills in tools such as Blender and/or Maya and advanced knowledge in tessellation techniques for model optimisation. You know how to work in InstaLOD, Pixyz, Simplygon or similar and have good understanding of real-time visualisation software like VRED, Unity, WebGL. You have been in contact with or are willing to learn Deltagen. Software skills in Catia and Teamcenter is a plus and a big bonus if you understand shaders, materials and have experience in Substance as well as script in Python.

We believe you have a master’s degree from a university, technical college like Technical Design, Computer Engineering, System Engineering, Game development or adequate work experience within visualisation development and technical pipeline for content creation. You have several years of relevant experience within this technical area, i.e., from other automotive company, computer game industry, CGI production company or product experience company.
You as a person is motivated and engaged and a “nothing is impossible” attitude. You like to share knowledge and enjoys working in teams. We believe you have good cooperation and communication skills. As we strive to be the best in our field, we are happy to see that you are highly driven and result focused.
Last but not least you are fluent in English since Volvo is a global company.
