Telematics Application Operation Specialist

Volvo Group Telematics (VGT) is a part of Volvo IT Services and is a global organization within the Volvo Group providing telematics off-board services. Volvo Group Telematics enables and accelerate customer-oriented off-board telematics service development and delivery. Volvo Group Telematics supports the Volvo Group whilst the WirelessCar brand is used to support external customers in the Automotive Car OEM segment such as Volvo Cars, Jaguar Land Rover and Audi.

VGT Service Operations
The Car OEM Operations team is part of the VGT Service Operations and has the responsibility for the operations of telematics solutions for external customers. This means that we deploy, operate and monitor our customer solutions to secure that these meet the agreed SLA. The Car OEM Operations team consists of 16 persons and is represented at two sites (Gothenburg and Beijing). The team work during office hours, but also have on-call and deploy duties during weekends on a regular basis.

As an Application Specialist, you will be part of a global organization that delivers telematics solutions to our customers. Important elements of the position are experience from operating high availability services in a Linux and Java based environment. We expect you to have the ability to troubleshoot in a complex operational environment involving multiple partners or suppliers.

The general qualifications are that you have an adequate academic background and that you are a communicative team-player. You are proactive and have a strong drive to continuously challenge and improve your knowledge. You are also proficient in both spoken and written English.

Competence Requirements
- Experience of complex systems
- You have several years of experience in Linux, preferably Red Hat
- Experience in application servers (JBoss or WebSphere)
- Experience in scripting (Bash, Ruby, Perl)
- Knowledge in high availability installations
- Deployment of application on application servers
- Basic database knowledge (Oracle, PostGres)
- Basic knowledge in network (Firewall, Load Balancers')
- Knowledge in ITIL
- Telecom experience is an advantage
