Head of Photography UX

We are looking for a strong design team lead, who is responsible for the design of our Photography applications across a range of device platforms.

As Head of Photography UX you

- Work closely with the Head of Photography Product Manager to help define the roadmap to enable the long-term competitiveness of our Photography experience strategy
- Will be the creative and inspirational lead for a team of interaction designers, visual designers, and other creative professionals
- Work closely with Project Managers to ensure correct resourcing and planning of all design projects of the team
- Will be ultimately responsible for ensuring the team delivers design concepts and final assets for delightful SW products in a timely manner

You will also

- Have exceptional interaction and visual design skills - a creative lead who knows how to get the best out of a team of talented designers.
- Drive a user-centric design process to create application propositions, information architectures, interaction flows and user interface designs.
- Understand how appropriate visual and motion design fits into an overall Windows design approach
- Work closely with business program leads, product designers, software developers, prototypers and usability experts to ensure the applications are fit for market.

Our organization

The Phones UX Design group has a strong creative agenda to deliver products with beautiful design essentials and an integrated brand experience. One of the pillars of the Microsoft Mobile Devices Group strategy is Photography; consumers all over the world recognise and appreciate our products for their excellent imaging solutions.

Within Phones UX, our team of 10 people, based in Espoo and Lund, is responsible for designing Microsoft applications that strengthen our Photography story. In the past two years, we designed (for example) Nokia ProCam, Nokia Camera, Nokia Cinemagraph, Refocus Lens, Nokia Storyteller and Creative Studio.

Our mission is to design and ship photography-related applications that consumers love to use. We do our creative work in a supportive and fun environment.

You would creatively lead our cross-disciplinary UX design team of Interaction designers, visual and motion designers, prototyping and usability experts.

Qualifications

Minimum

- Academic degree related to Interaction Design or similar.
- Significant professional experience of 10+ years designing shipping applications and services.
- Experience designing for Windows or other modern smartphone platforms or SW products
- Portfolio of compelling interaction design projects that show a thorough understanding of the design process
- Great collaboration and communications skills (verbal and written English).

Preferred

- Experience designing and working with developers of ecosystems such as Windows Phone, iOS or Android.
- Ability to travel internationally
- Demonstrates creative track-record, e.g. interaction-related patents or design awards
- Experience of working on agile development projects.
