HMS enables valuable data and insights from industrial equipment, allowing customers to increase productivity and sustainability. We are now looking for a Software Student Intern to join our Global Platforms Team in Halmstad, Sweden. At Global Platforms we have the mission to provide a generic and scalable Linux platform to our internal business units to build their products on top of.
In this role you will be working with extending our internal Linux platform offer and surrounding software components to align on new product needs. A big focus will also lie around test and test automation development. You will be working under supervision of our experienced engineers. As you develop you are expected to gradually work more independently.
Examples of possible development tasks:
• Development and extension of core software components (C, C++)
• Development of common services in our REST and High-Level APIs offers
• Extension/addon of different programming languages in platform offer
• Test and test automation development
• Investigation task on new technologies
The position is for up to a maximum of 15 hours per week and the work schedule will be arranged so that it is possible to attend university studies at the same time.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years studies within Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of electronics (reading circuit diagrams, soldering, use of measurement equipment)
• Experience in programming (e.g. C) for embedded systems.
Preferred experience/knowledge (but not required):
• Linux and embedded system knowledge
• Application/library development in Linux/POSIX (C, C++)
• Computer networks/protocols (TCP/IP etc.)
• Docker/container solutions and basic concepts
• Wireless communications
• Cloud technologies
• Version control systems (Git/Gerrit etc.)
• Project and task management systems (JIRA, etc.)
• Agile workflows (Scrum, Kanban)
