Embedded Software Engineer

Hurricane in the Bahamas, a flooding in Germany, forest fire in Värmland or an important interview in a refugee camp in Syria. The telecommunication infrastructure is vulnerable to natural disasters, governmental intervention or simply limited due to inadequate coverage. This is where Satcube comes in to enable doctors, journalists and first response to establish a satellite internet connection in under a minute.

Satcube's goal is to provide highly portable satellite communication devices that can be used by anyone, anywhere. We are looking for a embedded software engineer to join our team to build the software that makes this possible!

What is the job about?
The embedded software team in Gothenburg is looking for more hands and brains to join us! Together we go from prototype to release, building the system as a whole and its parts using a modern and fun tech stack. If you like to think both in terms of architecture and implementation and get excited by both device trees and algorithms, then this job is for you.

As an embedded software engineer at Satcube, you’ll be working with building the embedded system for our next-generation satellite terminals, and to some extent maintaining the software of the current terminals. Your main responsibilities will include:

- Developing software targetting embedded Linux.
- To a lesser extend: developing software for microcontrollers.
- Integrating hardware components (you'll especially learn to love satellite modems).
- Together with the rest of the team, forming the architecture and building the system in which the software runs.
- Extending and administering the CI/CD for the embedded system.
- Writing unit tests and performing system tests.

Who should apply?
Someone who also wants to make communication easy!

Required experience:
- A relevant bachelor, master’s, or other technical degrees.
- 2 years of previous experience with software development.
- At home in the terminal in a *nix system.
- Good understanding of computer networking.
Desired experience:
- Git (Gitlab).
- Prior experience with embedded Linux (preferably Yocto).
- Written some non-trivial Rust code.
- Some experience with C, Python, Bash.
- Knowledge of CI/CD in general, and the GitLab way of doing things in particular.

We know one cannot know everything! A will to learn is more important.
