The customer is seeking a Senior Engineer with experience in microservices ecosystem to the Global Search Team.  You will be part of a cross-functional product development team that delivers business and customer value, always with salesmanship at heart.  Main focus of a senior engineer is to help implementing a broader vision and architecture along with guiding junior colleagues. You would be working towards achieving Search Team’s technical architecture, maintaining engineering best practices in close collaboration with our Product Area Lead Engineer and Lead Engineers.  Using your engineering experience, you will be a catalyst for technical innovation, modernization of our technical landscape, and drive the engineering culture on Product Area level.

Core Responsibilities includes but is not limited to: 

You will collaborate with Product Owners of Search as well as other Product Owners, Product Area Managers and Product Area Lead Engineers to solve complex engineering problems and ensure an aligned technology roadmap. A central part of the role will be to guide and lead the area during our ongoing transformation period. We are on a journey together which means there is no clear path. You will play an important role in setting the foundation and creating our future organization. Furthermore, you will:

- Provide hands-on technical guidance to product teams including supporting system/design/code reviews
- Work with professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle 

- Translate product strategy and requirement into suitable, maintainable, and scalable solution design
- Ensure the architectural and strategic technical roadmap for the platform and be in the forefront of new features adding to the product
- Work alongside our Lead engineers in formulating a broader vision into achievable goals by designing feasible architecture, optimizing at every opportunity we find.
- Take ownership of tasks and see it through completion.
- Be open to experiments, learning and working with new technology areas

Key qualifications:

In this role you need to have an entrepreneurial mindset, be excited about creating something new and challenge the status quo. Other important skills needed in this role is to keep it simple, to be humble, open to new ideas and contribute in discussions in the forefront of disrupt loyalty!

- 8+ years of experience in Backend development using spring boot, java, docker, Kubernetes ecosystem, or relevant domain

- Working knowledge in Azure DevOps and/or other cloud environments

- Working experience with Kubernetes, Helm charts, deployment pipelines would be good to have

- Knowledge in API design and integration, published API services to cloud

- Experience in product, taxonomy, and other types of data integrations

- Strong knowledge of databases

- Ability to communicate technical information to stakeholders

- Experience in search platforms (SOLR, Elastic, etc.) preferred.

- Ability to build e2e search solutions preferred

- Ability to code in Python preferred

- Knowledge of entity extraction and classification work (NLP/CV) preferred

- Experience with knowledge graphs preferred

- Experience in retail domain preferred.
