Your team
The Software group provides MAX IV with a wide range of software solutions for the facility’s scientific endeavors.

Among others we provide control system solutions following international standards in synchrotrons such as web-based user interfaces, distributed hardware control, scanning tools for running experiments, acquiring and saving data and metadata, etc. As a very important part of MAX IV, the functionality and the reliability of the control and acquisition system software is continuously developed to meet the research requirements. 
In our team you will meet open minded people from different perspectives. Being part of the Software group, you will have a close collaboration with network, system, and hardware engineers and scientific software experts. We promote a DevOps style workflow.

MAX IV is looking for a summer worker to join our software team.

Your main work tasks will be
developing software from low level instrument interfaces to the user interface representation participating in the improvement of the software infrastructure.

To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

- Following a university curriculum
- Experience in developing software with any of these programming languages: python / C++ / javascript / Rust / Go. 

As a person you are a team player, communicative and collaborative, curious and eager to learn. You must be minimum 18 years old and fluent in English.

MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. It will receive up to 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.

The MAX IV Controls and IT team (KITS) deliver solutions to the whole MAX IV organisation in the areas of control system hardware, controls software applications, infrastructure and networking, information management and scientific software. This is a dynamic and highly challenging environment and requires close collaboration with the staff in order to understand the needs and be effective in forming solutions. We are around 50 people in total who work in 5 domains in a well organised and agile way. We hold values of lean management, knowledge spread, user autonomy, continuous improvement and flexibility as guiding principles for our work.
