Your main responsibility is to plan, develop, implement and test software functionality in the engine control system for Scania’s gas/otto engines. The development of our team is at the forefront of the technology and the work can require both theoretical, analytical and empirical work methods.

As a development engineer in our team you get the chance to develop new software functionality in all stages of development, from pre development to solving problems found in current production software. Examples of the tasks you will be assigned to:

• Analysing cross functional systems to find optimized control system strategies
• Developing software functionality for new and existing control systems, diagnostic functions and other logic in the engine control system 
• Testing and evaluating your developed functions in simulation tools, engine testbed, in a truck on our test track or in real traffic
• Continuous discussions and cooperation with colleagues in our team and with other parts of Scania's large R&D organization

Your profile

We believe you have a master of science or higher education in mechatronics, computer science, automotive or similar. We also think you:

• Have a positive attitude and like new challenges, large and small
• Are a team player who also individually can get progress in your tasks
• Are eager to learn and test new technical areas and techniques

You have work experience or had courses in all or some of these areas:

• C programming or similar programming languages
• System modelling, control theory and signal processing
• Simulation and scripting in Matlab/Simulink or similar programs
• Internal combustion engine physics and control

It is certainly a plus if you have previous experience from working with software development for embedded systems.

Our team is responsible for a wide area of functionality for Scania's otto engines offering many possible areas to focus on.

Our team consists of experienced engineers who continuously work together within the group, with other parts of Scania R&D and also other parts of the Traton organization, especially with MAN in Germany. We also regularly perform test expeditions in trucks in the northern parts of Sweden and other destinations as for example the Alps for high altitude testing, in order to get first-hand experience. We support our employees in getting C and CE driver’s license.

As an engineer in our team you have great possibilities to realize your ideas into real functions for our end product affecting Scania's customers around the world.
