Domain Architect to Commerce

About the Digital Commerce Solutions Domain

The Digital Commerce Solutions Domain within the Digital Department is responsible for the delivery of digital solutions to be consumed by the different customer journeys for both Retail and Fleet customers. The domain leverages a best-of-breed of technology, combining bespoke solutions with commercial technologies. The domain plays a critical role in enabling Polestar’s direct-to-consumer/company model at scale and constantly evolving into future business models.

About the role
As the Domain Architect you will own the architectural vision and technical solutions for the domain, in close alignment with Enterprise Architecture. With your experience in commerce and your understanding of its business processes, you are also important in bridging business and technology. In doing so, strong communication skills are crucial, and a willingness to actively collaborate with stakes holders across all domains.

As a person you value simplicity and you are not afraid to challenge technical constraints and procedures to achieve agile design. In this role, you will work closely with the domain teams to create a modular and scalable solution that addresses future architectural changes and designs. You will drive team engineering practices in test-driven development, continuous integration, and automated deployment.

Our bespoke systems are developed on AWS and the serverless stack, allowing us to develop fast and focus on delivering customer experience. Polestar has an event-driven microservice architecture supporting flexibility and autonomous teams. The technologies in use are primarily .Net Core, Node.js, Typescript, React.js, GraphQL.

Together with Solution Architects, Service Designers, and the Head of Domain, the Domain Architect takes an active role in developing new initiatives within the domain. We are looking for you who is keen to get your hands dirty and actively help the team to solve the biggest problems.

What you will do

- Ensure solutions align with the enterprise policies as defined by the Architecture & Standards and Information Security teams

- Be an active participant in our Architecture community where all architects from all domains come together for competency development and working cross domain

- Design the overall technical architecture of the products within the domain

- Own the list of identified technical debt on domain level and ensure that it is being prioritized appropriately - together with the solution architects in the teams; supports the teams with gradually reducing technical debt in the sprints

- Guide product teams on technology strategy

- Be responsible for the technical design of the product areas

- Be hands-on to help the team develop the Digital product and solve all surfacing problems at hand, identify and remove technical impediments

- Work with Digital Lead to align the roadmap with all strengths and opportunities within the technical stack

- Have close collaboration with solution architects, service designers, and the Head of Domain to develop new initiatives

- Constantly look for better ways of solving technical problems and design the Digital product, you are not afraid of challenging the status quo

- Share responsibility with Digital Leads for building reusable and scalable components

Who you are

- Experienced in developing serverless applications in a cloud environment, preferably in AWS

- Experienced in working with event-driven microservices

- Seasoned technical lead with deep insight into the newest technology trends

- Significant experience with agile infrastructure, environments, and deployment strategies/technologies to drive efficient working practices

- Can make architectural decisions at both domain and digital product level

- Experienced in working on projects that span across multiple teams and digital products

- Keen sense of design thinking

- Experience managing technical priorities within backlog

- Strong communication skills with ability to align the organization on complex technical decisions
