Junior Level Designer

Studio Northshade is a game company started and run by former AAA-developers. We make adventure games where gameplay comes first and we are looking for a junior level designer to join the team. We believe in diversity.

Responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Game Director, you will take the levels from idea, through paper prototypes and implement them together with other level designers.
• Management and upkeep of already existing levels.
• Working with tools designers and engineers to ensure the level design processes are functional and optimal.
• Coordinate with your team and other key stakeholders to ensure the project stays on track.
• Reference material gathering.

Qualifications:

• Fluent and comfortable in English.
• Knowledge of and experience in Unreal Engine 5.
• A bachelors degree or equivalent in level design.
• An understanding of game mechanics and how to bend a world to fit a certain mechanic.
• Experience working with Jira and Hansoft or equivalent programs.

Nice to have:

• Time as a professional level designer, or in another professional game development field.
• Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign or equivalent.
• Familiarity and understanding of adventure games.
• Being comfortable in nature and wanting to find and take their own reference photos.
• An eye for detail, and a feel for when the details don't matter.

Your starting salary will be 20 000 SEK/month before taxes. Perks include 5 weeks of vacation and 5 000 SEK in friskvård (health benefits) per year. We have a hybrid work-from-home setup and you will be required to sit in our offices in central Gothenburg until you are fully up to speed with our product and systems, and then to come in atleast 3 days/week.
