We are looking for an ambitious DevOps Engineer – Kafka, who will be part of our Integration Services Team within Vattenfall IT. The location for this position is flexible: Stockholm, Hamburg, Amsterdam, or Katowice.

Your role

You will be taking part in the digitalisation of Vattenfall business by developing and maintaining integration solutions, where innovation and efficiency are equally important as security and stability.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • You will join our strong international DevOps team, getting the possibility to work with multiple technologies for integrating systems and data.
  • Being a combination of project work and operative support for solutions in production, this position offers a lot of variety and professional development opportunities.
  • The main focus of this position is on event stream processing technology based on Apache Kafka.
  • You build and support a highly available environment and you support our development teams with initial setup and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

Your profile

To succeed as DevOps Engineer – Kafka, you should be self-driven, exact, analytic, and know how to prioritize. You are not only an experienced technician, but you also have the competence to understand the needs of the business. You are open-minded, passionate about IT, and you enjoy working in an international team.


Next to this you bring:

  • Academic degree, preferably in IT, Computer Science, Information Management, or other relevant field
  • At least 5 years of work experience as an IT Operations Engineer, or DevOps Engineer in a corporate environment
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of one of our local languages would be a plus (Swedish, Dutch, German, or Polish)
  • Work experience in the following technologies:
  • Apache Kafka / Confluent Kafka infrastructure and knowledge in Kafka to handle enterprise-scale production system support
  • Administration of Linux operating systems
  • Configuration management framework like Ansible
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Open Search
  • CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps
  • Experience with Docker or container environments in general

In addition to the above, it would be beneficial if you have work experience in any of the following areas:

  • Kadeck UI for Apache Kafka
  • Azure & Kubernetes
  • Programming languages like C# or Java
  • Scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, Python
