Research Engineer (NLP) - Creative Play

As a machine learning engineer at Embark you will be a game maker, using machine learning to create new ways to enhance experiences in interactive entertainment.

You will be spending a lot of time creating natural language interfaces, intelligent tools, and intelligent characters for games. Your focus will be on using language models to reinvent gaming and game development.

As a research engineer at Embark you will of course collaborate closely with the rest of the game team and studio; together we will make sure to build that enhanced game experience that we today only can imagine!

Example of responsibilities

- Implement working applications from ML methods described in the literature
- Bring game characters to life through conversation and a dynamic understanding of their world
- Create ML-based tools to simplify and amplify game development
- Read, understand, and improve upon methods published in the current research literature
- Collaborate with designers, content creators and gameplay software engineers

We would love if you have

- A creative and curious mind passionate about language models
- Experience from researching and implementing NLP machine learning methods, including conversation and grounded language
- An understanding of NLP model performance (latency and throughput) is a bonus
- Solid experience with Python, and common ML frameworks
- An interest in games and game/product design
- General software engineering skill is a plus
- Professional English communication skills
- The ability to be a great team player with great communication skills
