Lead Backend Platform Developer

The Position

In the role of Lead Backend Platform Developer at Avalanche, you will be driving the technical architecture of our backend services, supporting and scaling our backend services to meet the needs of our gameplay teams. While the position is a full-time role, Avalanche supports a hybrid on-site/from-home setup.

You will be leading a team of backend engineers, designing, implementing and scaling a dynamically evolving ecosystem of services for a live service game. We are looking for someone who has solid experience leading the development of scalable, distributed and cost-efficient solutions that meet the needs of gameplay teams in a AAA product. Our backend services are primarily implemented in C# but a significant part of your responsibilities would also be to seamlessly integrate services with the C++ side of the game and to provide high quality API's serving other game teams' needs.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of 5+ years of professional programming experience
• A great mindset for problem-solving and technical excellence
• Strong knowledge of backend microservice architecture and programming in C#
• Demonstrable practical experience with C++
• Experience with cost-efficiently running services in commercial cloud environments
• Scaling backend infrastructure to meet high availability requirements
• Professional experience in the Video Game industry
• Excellent verbal and written English

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience working with telemetry and data pipelines
• Experience working with content delivery networks
• Experience working with infrastructure as code
• Practical experience with Azure and PlayFab
• Passionate about gaming
