Sr. IT Business Systems Engineer

The Sr. IT Business Systems Engineer develops and maintains systems that process, analyze, and store critical business data, including internally-developed and proprietary systems, both on-premise- and SaaS-based. Responsible for the ownership of IT systems from design to development and maintenance. Liases between departments and end-users to translate business needs into functional systems and workflows. 
 
The Sr. IT Business Systems Engineer is expected to understand the business requirements and technical specifications related to IT system integration and enhancements, and build/maintain systems fulfilling these requirements. These systems include, but are not limited to internal databases, ERP, CRM, support tools, and licensing infrastructure. The successful candidate is a self-motivated software developer with a solid understanding of systems administration and networking principles. The candidate also possesses strong interpersonal and time management skills, in addition to confident knowledge of data architecture and operational best practices. The candidate may, at times, work with other developers or third parties to accomplish goals. Success in this role is easily visible and measured by saved man-hours and initiatives made possible by the engineer's products. 
 
Responsibilities:
- Engage with department stakeholders to understand operational processes
- Design and develop custom software solutions to optimize workflows and use of business data, including extending the functionality of existing systems
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot IT systems
- Prepare and manage IT systems, including defining scope, drafting system change requests and identifying functional specifications
- Communicate status updates and issues to stakeholders
- Perform system testing and prepare test cases
Coordinate user testing and training

- 5+ years experience as a software developer
- Software development experience including Python, API, database, and web programming
- Experience with data modeling and transformations
- Working knowledge of network and systems administration (Linux, TCP/IP, routing, etc.) 
- Experience with Atlassian software a big plus (JIRA/Confluence)
- Experience with ERP/CRM systems (Salesforce etc.)
Strong analytical skills and close attention to details
