Head of Product Design

As a Head of Product Design in Sector Alarm, you will join a team of highly skilled colleagues to support the delivery of state-of-the-art product, mostly running on cloud services. This is a permanent position reporting to Group Product Director.

About The Role

A leadership role responsible for Sector Alarm Service Design, Product UX/UI Design, Industrial Design and User Research. You will lead and shape Sector Alarm’s global consumer and business user experiences across web, apps and devices elevating the design culture across Products as one team. The right candidate will be user-obsessed with a sharp focus on delivering a first-class security experience. You will build and scale a world-class Product Design practice and digital experiences for sellers, installers, and consumers of our security products.

As the Head of Product Design, you will envision the future of Product Design at Sector Alarm. Working with colleagues from product, engineering, and marketing you will set the future vision for the end-to-end user experience, work cross-functionally to evolve the design capability in terms of people, process, culture, and communications and be instrumental in setting and upholding world-class design standards for the features your team's design, and how users experience them.

Job Responsibilities

• Show the future of the Sector Alarm products, galvanizing design teams behind a compelling and convergent user experience for security alarms.
• Make the mission of providing security and safety a delightful and simple experience for everyone involved, ensuring the Sector Alarm brand is synonymous with successfully providing peace of mind.
• Clearly communicate future design directions with colleagues in product, engineering, and brand marketing.
• Set the user research, service design, interaction design, UX and UI design and Industrial Design standards for the entire Sector Alarm products ensuring a high-quality standard for everything teams release across web, native apps and devices using re-usable and scalable design system and work with product managers teams to help it to become systematic.
• Partner closely with product & engineering leaders to shape the product roadmap short-term and long-term to enable your design vision.
• Actively research competitors, trends and patterns from core and adjacent industries to inform and inspire new product design ideas and solutions from designers.
• Plan for future design resourcing needs with the Product Director.
• Constantly educating and advocating the value of developing user-driven experiences and visualizing its contribution to the success of Sector Alarm.
• Bring the voice of our users into daily design conversations and design decisions.
• Work with the team hands-on designing core experiences together with them.
• Hiring, inspiring and retaining a world-class team of designers who are at the top of their craft.

Who are you?

• Be a product design visionary with a track-record of designing world-class experiences, building, and executing at scale.
• Have shaped high volume, global digital experiences with B2C and B2B users.
• Be an inspirational product and design visionary who can balance user and business value.
• Set high standards for the quality and detail of what your team ships, with knowledge of how this impacts the overall user experience and the metrics to prove it.
• Be an active storyteller and communicator you provide clarity and simplicity, and your verbal and written communications inspires and rallies teams.
• Have an open mindset to problems and opportunities, be curious about Sector Alarm products and users - bringing new experiences and ideas and combining them with Sector Alarm’s context to create the design vision.
• Be experienced working at pace in a scaled entrepreneurial culture and implementing the best toolkits to scale product design best practices.
• Have minimum 10 years’ experience in design work, leading design teams, and experience of transforming design teams, including senior team management, development, recruiting and change communication.
• Be driven, relentless yet humble and empathetic in approach.
• Be hands-on designer side-by-side with the team.

Essential Experience

• Have 5 years as either Design Lead, or Head of Product Design, directing team and design strategy with a diverse team.
• Experience of communicating design visions with senior stakeholders [CEO, CTO, CCO, etc.]
• A proven track record of taking on complex problems and designing and launching simple, usable, and high performing user experiences to solve them.
• Significant experience of working with engineering leads on solution feasibility and evolving solutions collaboratively.

• We are primarily looking for a candidate in the Malaga area in Spain or in the Oslo region in Norway. The role may also be located at one of our other offices: Sweden, Finland, Ireland, France, Italy, Portugal
