Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.We are looking for a person to drive our data engineering and cloud journey in Retail Analytics, i.e. analytics and BI solutions that makes our huge global network of Scania dealers and workshops more efficient and profitable. An exciting journey lies ahead and you will play a very central role in this mission!

The role

We work in a very cloud-centric ecosystem, with AWS/Snowflake as main components in data pipelines. As we are currently undergoing a cloud journey in general, you will guide and steer the architecture of both migration of solutions from on-prem towards cloud based pipelines as well as new cloud-based patterns. As we are a realtively small team with a handful data engineers (and equally many BI developers), you will also do some development yourself, but main focus is to drive of our data engineering architecture where we transform source data via AWS/Snowflake to consumable data products in a data mesh environment for our internal customers of BI/Analytics. 

We work with data from our commercial network as well as with streaming data from our connected rolling fleet and you will be working a lot with data ingestion strategies for such.

Some examples of activities:

• Driving architecture and data engineering for modern cloud environment
• Collaboration with internal and external teams 
• Guiding Data engineers for development, testing and validation
• Responsible for HLDD, Conceptual model and Physical model.
• Helping and guiding internal team to setup data products or analytical use case or BI reports
• Responsible for data products and data mesh progress

You can really lead and drive initiatives and you are a skilled communicator that can convey your messages to both tech-savvy as well as other colleagues in the commercial domain, which is where we operate.

Qualifications/experience required for you to be successful in your role:

• 3+ years experience in enterprise architecture and data modelling
• 5+ years hands-on experience as datawarehouse developer and ETL/ELT 
• Exposure and knowledge of data products and Data mesh context
• 3+ years experience in Snowflake and AWS (hands on experience in setting up Snowflake from scratch is meriting)
• Very strong in advanced and complex SQL and other Programming language (Python/Scala/Java)
• Exposure to streaming data (Apache Spark/Kafka/AWS Kinesis/Confluent)
• Prior experience in managing data engineers is valued
