The Unit for Intelligent Systems at RISE conducts natural language processing (NLP) research within the framework of the RISE Center for Applied AI. We have a strong focus on building, improving, advancing, and validating language models specifically tailored for Swedish and other Scandinavian languages. We are dedicated to developing resource-efficient methods within NLP and artificial intelligence (AI) in general. Furthermore, we have a strong emphasis on multilingual models and applications, meaning that we strive to create solutions that work effectively for multiple languages.

About the job
We are seeking a motivated Research Engineer to join our NLP team. As a Research Engineer in our team, you will play a crucial role in advancing our research in NLP, contributing to groundbreaking projects, and helping us make a positive impact on society through technology and innovation.

Your key responsibilities will be:

- Software development for research and development projects
- Running experiments, in particular involving machine learning models
- Data preparation and processing
- Contributing to the dissemination of research results, including writing papers and giving presentations

Location: Kista, Stockholm or Uppsala.

Who are you?
To be considered for this position, you should hold a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, or a closely related field. Proficiency in Python programming, along with a strong command of relevant libraries and frameworks for machine learning, particularly PyTorch or TensorFlow, is essential. Moreover, we are looking for candidates with a genuine interest in research, a commitment to maintaining high technical standards, and a collaborative spirit for effective teamwork. Additionally, qualifications such as experience with NLP methods and frameworks like HuggingFace, multi-GPU programming expertise, and proficiency in scientific writing would be highly regarded and beneficial for this role.
