As a Staff Data Scientist, you will be the right-hand of the Head of Data Science and Analytics, you will take fuzzy business goals and transform them into data science products that can deliver value iteratively. Leading the data science work in the team, you will be responsible for structuring the work and ensuring that the outcomes match the business objectives. A significant part of this leadership will be coaching and mentoring other data scientists to guide and speed their development, as well as unblocking them and finding ways to make the team as happy and productive as possible.

Collaboration is a central requirement for this role, both when working with stakeholders, but also within the team to deliver results that cannot be delivered by one person on their own

What do we expect from you

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in using data science and machine learning to solve real-world problems
• A track record leading data science projects in a team, collaborating in planning, coding, and communication
• Excellent programming skills in Python and SQL
• Solid understanding and experience with the tooling for Python - IDEs, unit testing frameworks, and static code checks
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex data and insights to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented mindset
• Customer obsession
• Able to own and drive projects and products to production and iteratively improve them over time

What will you work on

• Exploring the problem space and finding data science solutions that provide step increases in customer experience
• Planning data science work for the team, with an emphasis on collaboration to achieve common goals
• Gathering, collating, and understanding the data necessary to create data science products that delight the customers
• Collaborating with stakeholders throughout Truecaller to find and build data science products that solve business and customer problems at scale.
• Coaching and mentoring junior to senior data scientists to improve their technical skills and productivity

It would be great if you also have

• Understanding how to query very large data efficiently (we use BigQuery)
• Experience collaborating with C-suite executives
• Experience with data from mobile applications
• Experience with data visualization and reporting tools, such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI (we use Looker)
• A solid understanding of the engineering requirements necessary to put machine learning solutions into production and scale them to hundreds of millions of customers
