THE OPPORTUNITY IN A NUTSHELL

You? We are looking for an experienced Backend Developer who wants to contribute to shaping the future of car buying by digitalising the car buying journey alongside a forward-thinking team. We believe that close collaboration within the team, aligned with user needs, is crucial for creating the best products — benefiting our users, business partners, and Schibsted. We are seeking an inclusive Backend developer who can take the lead in addressing development-related queries both internally and externally, ensuring that we stay on the cutting edge. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in defining our future approach to the components we own and maintain. Some of these components will serve as the foundation for other marketplace teams, while others will be directly utilized by our Blocket users.

Role? As a backend developer in our Mobility Retail Tech team, you will play a crucial role in digitalizing the buyer journey for cars in Nordic Marketplaces, starting with Blocket. This position thrives in a fast-paced environment, driving the transition to modern technologies while collaborating cross-functionally to meet marketplaces demands.

Tech stack? Our most important tech choices involve Kotlin and Golang on the backend. Our services are running on AWS, and the frontend is mainly done with React/NextJS using Typescript. We use automated CI/CD pipelines (Github Actions and Travis) and Datadog and Humio for analysing and data logging.

Location? Our hybrid approach encourages you to spend a few days a week at our modern central Stockholm or Oslo office, depending on where you live, promoting team collaboration and connections. If you prefer an office environment, you're welcome to join us daily.

Company? Blocket is Sweden’s largest and most popular marketplace with around 12,3M monthly active users generating 100 million sessions. We are proud of our work to enable second-hand trade in Sweden and our contribution to a positive environmental impact. It is one of the brands within Schibsted Nordic Marketplaces. Some of the other prominent brands include FINN and Nettbil in Norway, DBA and Bilbasen in Denmark and Tori and Oikotie in Finland.

Why us? The team is located in Oslo and Stockholm and is in the centre of all the exciting changes that are currently happening in our Nordic marketplaces. You will have the opportunity to work closely with a great team on all the great stuff that happens here. At the same time, you will have an important leading role in our backend services, collaborating with other relevant teams, and learning and solving how we make the best marketplace for our users. Developers are highly valued in our teams and are encouraged to pitch in with ideas on how to push the service forward.

This is a unique opportunity to work with one of Sweden’s most popular websites and each month we have approximately 12.3 million active users.

Sounds like your cup of tea? Check out the details below!

WHO ARE YOU? You're a proactive and responsible individual who readily takes initiative when the situation demands it.
