Artificial intelligence is transforming society. AI Sweden is the national centre for applied artificial intelligence, jointly funded by the Swedish government and our partners, both public and private. Our mission is to accelerate the use of AI for the benefit of our society, our competitiveness, and for everyone living in Sweden.

We are now looking for individuals or teams to work with developing and implementing AI applications for Swedish non-profit organizations.

About the position
Google.Org has generously entrusted AI Sweden with funding to facilitate and aid some of Sweden’s most important non-profits, and this talent program is part of a larger initiative. Read more about the program on our website.

Teams of three sponsored students will work on developing AI applications for Swedish non-profit organizations. The program spans over ten weeks during the summer (full time) with a few days before and after the summer for introductions and presentations.

AI Sweden will provide collaborative working spaces in Stockholm and Gothenburg for the internship teams, fostering an environment of shared learning and innovation.

Students will receive mentorship from AI Sweden employees and have contact with representatives from the non-profits. You will have access to the Data Factory (https://www.ai.se/en/labs/data-factory), the Edge Learning Lab (https://www.ai.se/en/labs/edge-learning-lab), DGX A100’s (https://www.ai.se/en/labs/data-factory/infrastructure), and other resources.

The internship will culminate in a final knowledge sharing event, where students will present their findings, end products and achievements to all parties involved. This event will serve as a platform to share learnings, discuss challenges, and explore future collaborations.

At the core of this program are three fundamental principles that we hold in high regard, as they play a pivotal role in shaping the program's outcomes. Firstly, by ‘Accelerating applied AI in Sweden’, we aim to make a tangible impact on the operations of Swedish non-profits, driving real-world applications of AI technologies. Secondly, our commitment to 'Invest together, share with many' underscores the significance of producing top-notch documentation that can be readily utilized by a wide array of AI Sweden partners, fostering a culture of collaboration and shared knowledge. Lastly, 'Leading with speed and boldness' is not just a phrase but a guiding ethos, encouraging participants to conceive and implement the most original solutions, positioning them as pioneers in the rapidly evolving landscape of AI.

Who can apply
The program is open for students currently pursuing a Master, PhD or higher vocational education (yrkeshögskoleutbildning) in a field relevant to the scope of the program. You can apply alone or as a team of three individuals. Please state in the application the alignment of each applicant and the three roles. We believe that the teams should consist of the following competencies:

1. Machine Learning/Deep Learning Engineer:

- Proficiency in Python, relevant libraries, pre-trained models, and fine-tuning techniques.

- Hands-on experience with generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) is advantageous.

- Knowledge of natural language processing techniques.

2. Data Scientist/Data Analyst:

- Expertise in preprocessing and analyzing data.

- Skills in data cleaning, transformation, visualization, text mining, and feature extraction.

3. Software Developer:

- Strong programming skills.

- Experience in developing and deploying web or mobile applications.

- Familiarity with app development frameworks.

Candidates will be selected based on team composition (if applying as a team), grades, experience and motivation to participate in the program.

Participants will receive an hourly compensation during the program and are expected to work full time (40 hours per week) during ten weeks, as well as a few days before and after the summer (approximately 1+1 week in total).

We are mainly looking for Swedish students but might open up the program for international students. Participants must be able to work on-site in Gothenburg or Stockholm during the whole period (June-August).

Application process
The application deadline is March 5th, but applications will be processed on a running basis.

Information for candidates applying as a team: In the application, you must submit information about all three participants in the team under Participant 1, 2 and 3. Pick one of you as the "main contact" under personal information and upload one CV under "Upload CV", and the other two under "Additional files".
