Lead, Technology & Security

Role Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic Lead, Technology & Security (Lead T&S) to lead our strategic tech development. This role is ideal for a hands-on tech wizard who thrives in a matrix organization. While not directly managing a team, the Lead T&S will be the driving force behind our technological architecture, cybersecurity, and DevOps practices, ensuring that our software solutions are innovative, secure, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement overall technology strategy and architecture for the company.
• Spearhead cybersecurity initiatives to protect company data and client information.
• Oversee the DevOps infrastructure, ensuring efficient deployment and operation of our services.
• Collaborate with the Chief Product Officer (CPO) to align technology with business goals.
• Stay abreast of emerging technology trends and incorporate them into our solutions as appropriate.
• Provide technical leadership and insight to the development teams, without direct management responsibilities.
• Code and contribute to the software development process as needed, demonstrating hands-on expertise.
• Ensure consistency in Emulate's APIs-first strategy, as contributed to by various teams within the organization.
• Support decision-making regarding the overall development platform, including languages, databases, observability, and deployment.
• Assist sales and customer success by answering technological and security questions from current or potential customers.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a similar leadership role in technology.
• Strong background in software development, systems architecture, and cybersecurity.
• Experience in building software products in a startup environment, ideally using lean startup methodologies and focusing on the build-measure-learn cycle.
• Experience with cloud technologies (specifically AWS), containerization, DevOps practices, and modern programming languages like Python, Node.js, Rust, and Postgres.
• Familiarity with gRPC and at least some level of experience with the majority of Emulate's core technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically about technology.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a matrix organization and influence without direct authority.
• Strong communication skills, capable of effectively articulating technology strategies to non-technical stakeholders.
• Adaptability to growing security and regulatory requirements in a scaling business environment.
