Automation Equipment Engineer - Body

Facility, Tooling and Equipment Body is part of the Volvo Car Groups Manufacturing Engineering Body department. The department is responsible for developing the process, implementing vehicle programs and engineering changes into the global production sites within the area of body construction. Its main tasks are to define the tooling strategy to meet the manufacturing targets. The section is divided into 3 groups and there are more than 60 people working in it.

As an Automation Equipment Engineer- Body you will be responsible for the area of IT infrastructure, factory integration and Production Steering. You will support the running production for Industrial Engineering, Production and Maintenance, with third line analysis. You will also develop equipment strategies, in some cases in an SMS group as driver or participant. You will be one of the main contact persons with our IT suppliers, both internal and external.

Main responsibilities

* Participate in or lead relevant standard- and technical organisations within the area of responsibility with authority to represent Volvo Car Group
* Participate in equipment projects
* Perform reliability- and cost analyses
* Interface with IT suppliers. Includes regular meeting, workshops, deliveries follow ups and licence agreements
* SMS representative
* Technical advisor for the production steering area and IT interfaces
* Maintain commonality within Volvo Car Group for the IT integration part
* Upgrade our standard, specification and software to follow market and have close cooperation with our suppliers
* Implement software solutions that will be used in several assembly areas
* Involved in the software integration of new hardware components

Required qualifications

* University degree in automation engineering, computer engineering or equivalent experience
* Knowledge of PLC programming
* Good knowledge of PCS (Production Control System), ex. GOB/TAP
* Knowledge from manufacturing
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
