Senior Javascript Developer

Job Description

We have front-ends written in Javascript, mostly using React. Behind this, there are two backends: one written in Haskell and one written in Node.js. We also have a dash of Java for manipulating PDFs.

As we are developing the fourth generation of our product we need to strengthen our frontend team with someone with strong React and Node.js skills. We are looking for someone who is experienced, in touch with the JavaScript ecosystem and can make decisions as to what the best tools to use are, even if it’s not the latest and greatest library.js on the planet. We are not looking for a junior developer, but rather someone with experience, who can help drive decision making, making sure our technology choices deliver value to the business.

Everyone in Engineering contributes to the system architecture, so the work will contain not just lots of development, but also elements of system architecture in cooperation with other engineers as you spend more time with the company. We review each other’s code based on skills and experience.

As our product handles sensitive and important documents and needs to be available 24/7/365, attention to quality is an essential trait for any candidate. We are currently facing more and more complex use cases for our product so being able to wrap one's brain around a large system and solve problems in it is also required.

The successful candidate would join the Engineering team and report to the CTO.

What We Need From You

Absolute requirements:

• Javascript
• React
• Node.js
• Linux
• Very good English
• Willing and able to travel at least twice per year to conference location
• Documentation skills
• Used to writing tests
• Used to working remotely (if you are not located in Stockholm)
• We have meetings during central European office hours, meaning that you probably are on GMT+/-3 time
• Need to be an EU national, or have the ability to work in the EU

Javascript and React skills is really at the core of it, but here’s the rest of our skill wish list:

• Backbone (there’s still some of this in the code base).
• Not afraid of Java. In fact we’re ok with you being very good at Java.
• Not afraid of Haskell, being good at it is permitted, but then you may want to apply for the full stack developer role that is also available.

Bonus points for:

• Open source contributions, in particular Javascript ones
• Deep knowledge of PDF internals
• Good knowledge of SQL/PostgreSQL
• Being a programming language polyglot
• Cryptography
• Swedish or Polish skills
